Warning Babies Can Suffocate on Nappy Sacks!

Danger on the Changing Mat!

The Child Accident Prevention Trust (CAPT) and the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (ROSPA) are highlighting the dangers associated with nappy sacks.

This follows a recent incident in UK where a baby died following suffocation from a nappy sack. Babies naturally grasp things and pull them to their mouths, but then find it difficult to let go. Flimsy nappy sacks can easily cling to a baby's face as they breathe in and cause suffocation and choking.

Professionals are being encouraged to read the safety campaign from ROSPA and to share this information with frontline practitioners to raise awareness with parents and carers.
